A Kentucky Derby Party!

It is that time of year again;
time to start planning for the Kentucky Derby!

I am excited to share with you the pictures from my
139th Kentucky Derby
date party I threw for our closest friends!

My friend, Amy Flick, helped plan for this amazing event!

Scrapbook paper was simply cut & glued to backs

Rose shaped cookies, plastic baggies, horse shoe shaped paper punch & ribbon


My friend loaned me her daughter's American Doll horse for this cute display!
We sat him on a silver cake stand and placed a red napkin over his back. The red rose is a
yummy cupcake from Uptown Grocery, Edmond.


Custom koozies were purchased from  24 Hour Wrist Bands



Offical Kentucky Derby Mint Julep glasses were purchased from  KentuckyDerby.com

Silver platter, black cardstock, white paint pen and tape

I ordered five peronalized trophies & handed out to our top guests!
Trophies were awarded to:
1. Best Hat 
2. Best Dressed Couple
3.  Best Southern Cuisine
4. Winning Horse ($1, randon draw)
5. Triple Crown (Best All Around)

Horse display made using:
Black Hallmark boxes, ribbon, faux roses, plastic grass & horse, ribbon & paper.

Each couple was asked to bring their best southern inspired cuisine to share!


The official Mint Julep bar!! 
Stocked with all the goodies you could find at the actual race!

The drink lineup included: 
Mint Juleps, Whiskey Sours, Mojitos, Club Specials & red & white wine.
Red horse head from Hobby Lobby & napkin and plasticware from Amazon.

  1. The Kentucky Derby and the festival both are fantastic fun and, as a lifelong Louisvillian, I welcome you to the event and to our fine city. Just keep in mind that there are some things you should do while here and some things you probably shouldn’t, at least if having fun is your motivation.If you really want fun and feel relax then book a Kentucky Derby Rentals

  2. Glad to know about this Kentucky Derby party. Last month, arranged a brunch party with my friends at one of venues nearby. Booked it online and hired party caterer too who did truly awesome arrangements.
